An eight-hour Spectrum outage Thursday along the Outer Banks caused by a wreck in Currituck County was temporarily repaired, but the service was out again Friday after more damage was found. It had been repaired again by lae morning, but construction teams remained on site to continue repairs.

Spectrum crews made a temporary patch on Thursday night, with internet, television and phone service returning after 10 p.m. Service went out again early Friday morning and crews were on the scene along U.S. 158 near Muddy Motorsports Park working on the lines.

The crash that caused the outage happened about 3 p.m. Thursday when a four-door Jeep being towed by an RV came unhitched and took out the pole, knocking out power to residents and businesses in the area. There were no injuries.

A Spectrum spokesman said the utility pole also carried Spectrum’s wiring.

Spectrum customers from Currituck through Hatteras are impacted by the outage. There is no estimated repair time.
