Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet is collecting clothes, money and other needs for the families involved in Friday’s fire in Buxton that claimed the lives of four people.
In a Facebook post, the the Hatteras crew said they have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
“We would like to thank each and every one of you for your support during this trying time. The unfortunate event that has devastated our Coast Guard and local community, not only claimed lives but also left families with very little personal belongings,” the post said.
After so many offers of help, the local crew has put together a list of needs for the families. There were nine children who lost personal belongings, boys aged 12, 7, 7, 4, 2 and 7 months and girls aged 7, 7, 2.
Clothing needed:
The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. in the 46000 block of Cape Hatteras Lane. The two-alarm blaze sent two people to the hospital and claimed four lives. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
