A family aboard a 24-foot boat got a tow to shore by the Coast Guard on Tuesday after running into trouble eight miles off Oregon Inlet in thick fog.

The crew of a 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Station Oregon Inlet was standing watch along the ocean bar outside the inlet when they were hailed on marine radio that the vessel was taking on water.

A leak in the raw water cooling system left the vessel disabled in thick fog.

The MLB crew was able to locate the family and towed their boat back to the Oregon Inlet boat ramp. No injuries were reported.
