Someone mowing grass in South Mills ran over a fiber optic cable Thursday morning, leading to the ongoing Spectrum internet, television and phone service outage across the Outer Banks.
The mowing incident happened in the same area where the cable was fixed in June following a crash, contractors told OBXToday.
As of 2 p.m., they said the repairs should be complete within two to two and a half hours. Many customers had services restored by 2:40 p.m.
Only one fiber optic line feeds Outer Banks Spectrum cable and internet customers.
