Threat of severe thunderstorms into this evening for Outer Banks

Numerous showers and thunderstorms have been developing just inland over the last several hours. [NWS radar image]

Scattered severe thunderstorms possible into this evening across eastern North Carolina and along the Outer Banks, as some storms have already developed to the west and will continue to expand with time.

Forecasters at the Newport/Morehead City office of the National Weather Service said damaging wind gusts and large hail are the primary threats with any of the strongest storms, while an isolated tornado is also possible.
