Plymouth – Thomas Edward Allen, 60, of Plymouth, NC passed away August 30, 2020 after a lengthy illness. He was an avid fisherman and could be seen casting a line on the Roanoke River at any given time often accompanied by family members as well as neighborhood children fishing with “Uncle Tommy”.
Thomas was born September 5, 1959 in Plymouth, NC to Warren Washington Allen and Mary Jane Wheeler Allen. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth “Lizzy” Allen, and Lorrie Brown.
Thomas and his wife Gwen have been happily married for 30 years. Besides his wife, Tommy is survived by his son, Kenneth of the home; a brother, William Allen of Plymouth NC; a sister Wendy Bright, of Greenville NC; as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
Thomas worked for the NC Department of Transportation performing bridge maintenance. He was also a volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels, delivering lunches to the elderly several times a week. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and remembered for his outgoing personality and willingness to help anybody in need.
