Terry Sue Cartwright

Terry Sue Cartwright left her earthly home on May 1, 2024.  She was born on June 16, 1959 to Rosabelle Whitehurst Twiford and the late Joseph Daniel Jennings, Jr.  Terry Sue was a devoted and loving wife and a loving sister and daughter.  Terry was a graduate of Northeastern High School.  She retired from Albemarle Sentara Hospital as an administrative assistant in billing, where she was recognized for stopping insurance fraud.  She always wanted to do the right thing.

Terry was a selfless and gentle soul, with a big heart.  She was thrifty and was a frugal shopper, but often spent freely on groceries for someone else she felt was in need. Terry enjoyed the simple things in life, like time at home watching and feeding the squirrels, rabbits, birds, and ducks that frequented her backyard. She greatly loved her beagles, Cracker Jack, Rocky, Buddy, and Princess. Terry enjoyed working in her yard and going to the beach.

Terry is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 26 years, Ernest “Bootie” Cartwright, Jr.; mother, Rosabelle Whitehurst Twiford; brother, Daniel “Danny” Jennings; sister, Darlene Cross (David); nieces and nephews, Danielle Clark (Brian), Will Jennings (Kelley) and Betty Rose Washburn (Mark), and Deanna Cross; and great nieces and nephews, Tater Davis Jennings, Karley Jo Jennings, Wyatt Oliver Washburn, and John Clark.  Terry Sue was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Russell E. Twiford and sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Beth” Jennings.

Terry’s family would like to thank Dr. Mulcrone and the staff and nurses in the ICU unit at Albemarle Hospital, not only for the excellent care they provided, but for the compassion they extended to the family.  A special thanks to Debbie Morrisette, Terry’s cousin and lifelong friend, for her love and support.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Sylvia Collins-Ball officiating. A visitation will take place at Twiford Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
