Tail Waggin’ Tuesday: July 18, 2023

Are you in search of the perfect fur-ever friend? A new addition to the family, perhaps? OBX Today in partnership with the Outer Banks SPCA is proud to present “Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays.”

Each Tuesday, browse our provided selection of videos and images and follow along as we showcase a variety of pets that are currently awaiting adoption at our local animal shelter.

This week’s featured pets are Tulip, Sunny, Astrid, Sabbath, and Landry.

Tulip
Tulip came into the SPCA’s care from another shelter and was at risk of being euthanized for space. The OBX SPCA was glad to help Tulip and have enjoyed her company and getting to know her big personality. Tulip previously lived with other dogs, but is understandably stressed out in a shelter environment, so staff are anxiously awaiting a foster to help calm her and get her to a forever home. Tulip adores attention, loves being outside, and can never have enough toys. She is about 3 years old and is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and is a cuddle bug!

Sunny
Sunny came into the SPCA’s care from another shelter as a stray and they did not have enough room to keep her. They were sure Sunny wouldn’t be here long and are shocked she is still here. They know the perfect home is out there for Sunny and there is someone that will take the time with her to help her warm up. The shelter guesses that Sunny previously lived outside and didn’t get socialized the way she should have, but staff and volunteers have worked so hard with her to helping gain her trust!

Astrid

Astrid is about 9-year-old and has been in the SPCA’s care for three years. She was very fortunate and has been in a foster for the last two years but was brought back into our care about a month ago because her foster was moving out of the Country and could not take Astrid with them. This story was so heartbreaking because the bond they had was so special. Astrid does have some health concern, so the OBX SPCA are begging for a foster with no other animals to let her live out the rest of her days comfortably and in a loving home. Astrid is so deserving of this and we know she has so much love to give!

Sabbath
Sabbath is about one-month-old and has the “prettiest eyes,” according to shelter staff. The SPCA is in love with this little man and can’t wait for him to find the right home.

Landry
This handsome boy was adopted as a kitten and was brought back due to no fault of his own. Landry is a little nervous at first being back in this environment but is so playful and sweet once he opens up.

To adopt Tulip, Sunny, Astrid, Sabbath, Landry, or any of the other shelter animals, visit the Outer Banks SPCA Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or give them a call at 252-475-5620.

This month’s sponsor of Tail Waggin’ Tuesday is Fishing Unlimited.
