Tail Waggin’ Tuesday: February 6, 2024

Are you in search of the perfect fur-ever friend? A new addition to the family, perhaps? OBX Today in partnership with the Outer Banks SPCA is proud to present “Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays.”

Each Tuesday, browse our provided selection of videos and images and follow along as we showcase a variety of pets that are currently awaiting adoption at our local animal shelter.

This week’s featured pets are Allie, Charlie & Cub, Fred, and Lady. Verbiage is provided by shelter manager Leann Saunders:

Allie
Allie is a year and a half old. She was abandoned on someone’s front door and then brought into the shelter. She has had puppies in the past and was very underweight but we are working on getting her back healthy! She is up to date on her vaccines, being spayed today, and is heartworm negative. She seems to do well with other animals and loves attention!
Charlie & Cub
Charlie and Cub came from a high kill shelter yesterday were they were going to be euthanized due to space. We are looking for a foster for our senior Charlie as he does have some health concerns but we are doing our best to help give him the best retirement plan out there! Cub is about 8 months old and was neglected in his previous home. The people who had him tried to clip his ears themselves and did a poor job. They are healing up now and he is happier than ever to be here.
Fred
Fred is about 3 years old and was found abandoned on the refuge in East Lake. He is currently on a stray hold to see if maybe he escaped his pen but we have not had anyone come forward at this time. Fred has a huge personality and loves soaking up all of the attention from people. He seems to do well with other dogs but will need some leash work as we are sure he was used to being able to roam around.

Lady
Lady was surrendered into our care because the child in the home was too much for her. She is about 5 years old and only about 8 pounds.

To adopt a shelter animal, visit the Outer Banks SPCA Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or give them a call at 252-475-5620.

This month’s sponsor of Tail Waggin’ Tuesday is Hatteras Island Pet Resort.
