Steven J. Butler, 77, of Grandy, NC passed away on June 22, 2019 after a brief illness. He graduated from the University of Maryland and served in the National Guard. Steve retired from the Dept. of Defense, Navy Dept. NAVSEA. After retirement, Steve worked for several years at Southern Shores Realty.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Joseph E. and Margaret E. Butler, brother in-law Greg Fitchko and his faithful companion English Springer Spaniel, Striker.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Susan and her husband Charlie Brown and grandson Jordan of Potomac Falls, VA; his son Brian and his wife Carrie; grandson, Cole; granddaughter, Caitlyn; and grandson Caden. He is also survived by his brother -in-law Frank Fitchko of Front Royal, VA and sister in-law Donna Fitchko of Ligonier, PA.
A viewing will be held at Gallop Memorial Chapel in Barco Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm. There will be no funeral services. Scattering of his ashes will be at a later date.
