A three-story house near Duck Woods Country Club was destroyed by a pre-dawn fire Friday morning.
The Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department was called to the structure that was fully involved on South Dogwood Trail at 4:29 a.m. Members of the Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Colington and Nags Head fire departments also responded.
Crews had the blaze knocked down in about 10 minutes, but were still at the scene during the day dealing with hot spots on the surrounding property. No injuries were reported, and what may have caused the fire has not been released.
