Longer days and warmer temperatures must be on the horizon — the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry began running its spring schedule Tuesday morning.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has added four daily trips to the free ferry between Hatteras and Ocracoke through the beginning of April. The schedule remains in effect until April 8, when more trips are added as tourism season gets underway.
The ferry crossing between Hatteras and Ocracoke lasts about an hour.
