Southern Shores police announce four drug arrests

Southern Shores police on Thursday announced a series of drug arrests over the last few days.

On Aug. 26, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Juniper Trail, searched the vehicle and found suspected cocaine.

Tyrell Boykin

Tyrell D. Boykin, of Witherspoon Street in Elizabeth City, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle while in possession and possession of cocaine, Southern Shores police said in a news release. Boykin was booked into the Dare County Jail and put under $10,000 secure bond.

On Aug. 27 at approximately 5:17 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in town because the owner was wanted on a warrant out of Virginia. Upon further investigation officers located and seized methamphetamine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Samuel Sandler

Samuel Sandler of Virginia Dare Tail in Nags Head, was arrested and charged with ossession of methamphetamine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle, possession of Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia and was served with a fugitive from justice warrant, the news release said. Sandler was booked into the Dare County jail and placed under $260,000 secure bond.

On Aug. 29, at approximately 12:45 am., officers executed a search warrant at a residence on North Dogwood Trail in Southern Shores. Upon a search of the residence officers seized a large amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and drug equipment, police said.

Ken A. Kelley

Ken A. Kelley of North Dogwood Trail, Southern Shores, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the news release said. Kelly was released on 4,000 secure bond.

On Sept. 1 at 11:34 p.m., officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Hickory Trail in Southern Shores and marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were seized.

Cary C. Foster of Traymore Lane, Bowie, Maryland was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said Foster was booked into the Dare County Jail and put under $10,000 secure bond.
