Significant damage to Fraternal Order of Eagles in Nags Head after fire Sunday morning

The Nags Head Fire Department was dispatched in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 24, at 12:18 a.m. in response to a structure fire at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Nags Head.

Upon arriving, Nags Head Police Department units found fire on the exterior with some fire visible through the second floor windows. Truck 16 arrived to find a working fire with extension into the attic space. A second alarm was transmitted to bring additional man power to the scene.

The structure received significant fire damage. There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants.

The cause is still under investigation and no foul play suspected.

Surrounding fire departments including Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department, Southern Shores, and Manns Harbor Fire Department provided assistance, as well as Dare County EMS, Kill Devil Hills Police Department, Dare County Sheriff’s Office, and The North Carolina Highway Patrol.
