Ruth Eva Dutt, 93 of Kitty Hawk, NC, formally of York, PA and Richmond, VA passed away on June 26, 2021.
She was born on December 25, 1927 in Allentown, PA to the late George Peter Burkhardt and Eva May Hartzell. Ruth had one brother and four sisters, all now deceased. Ruth married Stan Dutt at the age of 18 and they celebrated 67 years of marriage before his death in August 2013. Ruth was a devoted mother to her four children and a talented seamstress and bookkeeper who worked alongside Stan at their businesses.
Since Stan’s death Ruth made her home with her son Dave and his wife Susan. She could often be seen walking with her walker on Creek and Catco Roads or sitting and soaking up sunshine in their driveway. After Ruth and Stan relocated to Kitty Hawk they became members of Outer Banks Presbyterian Church, enjoying the fellowship of a loving church family.
Ruth delighted in and is survived by a large and growing family: three sons and one daughter and their spouses, eleven grandchildren plus spouses, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Son, David Dutt and his wife Susan of Kitty Hawk, NC, daughter Linda Dutt Shellenberger and her husband Brad of York PA, son James Dutt and his late wife Connie of Windsor, PA and son Dennis Dutt of Virginia Beach, VA. Grandson Chris Dutt, wife Natalie and children Leighton, Ryder, and Everly of Kitty Hawk, NC; granddaughter Ansley Dutt Miller, husband Will, and children Christian, Caroline, and William of Kitty Hawk, NC; grandson Joel Engle, girlfriend Sherry, and son Cody of York, PA and son Bradley and wife Hannah of York, PA; grandson Steven Shellenberger and fiancée Michelle Hill of York, PA; granddaughter Danielle Shellenberger Schielke and husband Erik of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter Andrea Shellenberger and children Gage, Kylie, and Delaney of York, PA; granddaughter Dana Dutt Kemper, husband Steve and sons Matthew, Andrew, and Jonathan of Lancaster, PA; granddaughter Amy Dutt Lau and husband Gene of Windsor, PA; granddaughter Jamie Dutt Good, husband Ken, and sons Tyler, CJ, Robbie, Carson, and Grayson of Dallastown, PA; grandson Josh Dutt, wife Jennifer and daughters Chloe and Allison of York, PA; and grandson Jared Dutt and Jenny Hill of York, PA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Jody Moore officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 until the start of the service at the church. Graveside committal at Laurel Memorial Gardens will follow the funeral.
