Each year the Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) recognizes a REALTOR® of the Year. This REALTOR® has served not only the real estate profession but also their community in the past year.
This year, Richard Tolson, owner of RT Realty OBX, LLC, was awarded the REALTOR® of the Year at OBAR’s annual ball on Friday, December 10, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.
The 33-year veteran REALTOR® was recognized for his high principals, faithfulness to the Association’s Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and the Code of Ethics.
Tolson has worked for the advancement of the principles of good real estate practice among other Brokers and the public. His service to OBAR includes serving as Treasurer in 2002, and then again from 2019-2021, and serving as Chair of the Finance & Budget Committee. In addition, he started his own company this past year and was instrumental in establishing an Association Investment Plan.
“Over the past 33 years, selling real estate has afforded me the opportunity to live and work here on the beautiful Outer Banks. That is an honor in and of itself,” Tolson said.
“Assisting the real estate community and serving alongside the OBAR leadership is something I am very passionate about,” Tolson said. “To be recognized by my peers for a job well done and receiving this award brought tears to my eyes. It’s an honor I will never forget!”
“Richard was the perfect recipient for this award. He has done so much for the Association and is always willing to help others,” said OBAR President Doug Brindley.
“He was involved in the Association by not only showing up but by doing…serving as Director, Officer, or as Chair of a committee, working on special projects and events and exemplifying a commitment to improving the Association’s program of work, and thus the Outer Banks community.” Brindley said.
Recipients are nominated by their peers. The award was given to Richard by 1995 recipient Rosemarie Doshier of The Doshier Team OBX Realty.
