Richard E. Coston, Jr.

 Richard “Dick” Coston, Jr., age 81, of Elizabeth City, NC passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 16, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dick was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Michele; and three grandchildren, David, Amy, and Ashley.

Dick is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Gene; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Michael Ciancio; and his son, Matthew.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dan, CJ, AJ, and Maggie; and two great-grandchildren.
 
Dick served his country honorably in the United States Navy..  He then worked for IBM for thirty-one years, retiring in 1996.    After his retirement, he and Gene moved to Elizabeth City, NC from upstate NY where he became a very active member at Evangelical Methodist Church.    He was an avid gardener, enjoyed nature photography, classic cars, and travel.

The family would like to thank Albemarle Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful loving, caring, support during Dick’s transition.

At Dick’s request there will be no services. Dick and Gene decided long ago that they wanted to be cremated. When Gene joins Dick in Heaven, their ashes will be scattered together at sea. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the residence, 202 Fairway Terrace, Elizabeth City, NC  27909.
