The Coastal Humane Society is thrilled to invite you and your furry companions to join them for the 27th Annual Coastal Humane Society Walkathon, happening at the Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 17, 2024. This beloved event has been a cornerstone of the Outer Banks community for nearly three decades.
The Coastal Humane Society Walkathon is not just a fun-filled event but also a vital fundraiser that supports ongoing efforts to help pets and their families in the Outer Banks community. By participating in the walkathon, you’ll be directly contributing to our programs that provide essential services such as low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, medical assistance, and more to pets in need.
Here’s how it works: You and your furry friends gather donations from friends and family, and then proudly walk in the parade alongside other pet-loving families. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your pets to strut their stuff and for you to show your support for a worthy cause.
This year, we’re excited to introduce the Veterinarian Puppy Cup competition, sponsored by seven local veterinary practices—Eastern Shore Animal Hospital, First Flight, Martin’s Point, Coastal Animal Hospital, OBX Veterinarian, The Sound, and Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. The practice with the most participating dog families will win a special prize and bragging rights for the entire year!
Plus, there are fantastic prizes up for grabs for the dog families who raise the most donations, including pet-friendly hotel stays and golf packages, sponsored by our generous partners at the John Yancey Inn, White Doe Inn, and Nags Head Golf Links.
