The gymnasium located inside the Dare County Youth Center at Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills will be closed for a three-week period beginning Monday, October 28, 2024 and continuing through Monday, November 18, 2024 while the roof of the Dare County Youth Center is being replaced. During this time, all activities that take place within the gymnasium—including volleyball and pickleball—will be canceled.
The after-school program will be held in the multipurpose rooms at the Dare County Youth Center until the replacement of the roof is complete, and any meetings scheduled in the multipurpose rooms will be held as scheduled.
The planned roof replacement project is part of Dare County’s ongoing efforts to renovate and improve outdated Parks and Recreation Department facilities throughout the county over the next few years in order to better serve members of the community.
The Dare County Parks & Recreation Department recently announced the launch of a needs assessment survey that will be used to gather feedback about the community’s preferences for recreational offerings — and will aid in the prioritization of future Dare County Parks & Recreation projects, programming and initiatives. Residents and property owners are strongly encouraged to provide their input by participating in the needs assessment survey.
