Rain, rain and more rain

NWS rain total graphic

Our streak of damp days is expected continue through the weekend, with periods of moderate to locally heavy rain through Sunday night.

The National Weather Service says the precipitation, combined with already saturated soil, could lead to minor flooding of low lying areas.

Temperatures will stay warm enough that the Outer Banks won’t see the ice coating other areas of eastern North Carolina and southeast Virginia, but the rain will be cold.

High temperatures both today and Sunday are expected to top out in the lower 40s. Breezy conditions with wind gusts up to 25 mph will make it feel even colder.
