Racist graffiti was discovered in the boys locker room at First Flight High School Tuesday afternoon, and has prompted an investigation of the incident by school leaders and resource officers from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
Video of the graffiti began circulating on social media Tuesday evening.
The graffiti included two uses of a racial epithet, along with reference to a conspiracy theory about the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
“This is in direct violation of the core values of Dare County Schools, and we denounce this kind of behavior under all circumstances,” said superintendent John Farrelly in a statement issued Wednesday.
“Any student, or students, that are found responsible for this incident will be disciplined to the fullest extent in accordance with the Dare County Schools Code of Student Conduct,” Farrelly said.
