Dare County will host a public informational meeting to discuss upcoming Hatteras Island beach nourishment projects at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Fessenden Center in Buxton.

The meeting will focus on the two beach nourishment projects that will be constructed on Hatteras Island later this year—approximately 2.5 miles of shoreline in Avon and approximately 2.9 miles of shoreline in Buxton.

The public meeting — which will also be livestreamed on Dare County’s YouTube channel — will include presentations from the engineers and contractors for the project, and there will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask any related questions they may have.

Those who cannot attend the meeting but would like to submit comments or questions about the projects can email them before or during the meeting to DareCountyPR@DareNC.com.

The Fessenden Center is located at 46830 N.C. 12 in Buxton. For those who are unable to attend the meeting in person or tune into the livestream, the video will also be available for viewing on the county’s YouTube channel and on www.MoreBeachToLove.com following the meeting.
