The public will have a chance to weigh-in on the future of The Soundside event site in Nags Head at a listening session tonight, Wednesday, April 24.

The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau will host the session from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Pamlico Jack’s in Nags Head.

Johnson Consulting has been hired by the bureau to conduct an economic impact and feasibility study of The Soundside co-owned by the Dare County Tourism Board and Town of Nags Head.

“We will share a brief retrospective on the event site,” said Visitor Bureau Executive Director Lee Nettles.

“Johnson is expected to share some visual examples of facilities and approaches taken in different areas,” Nettles said. “These will be used to spark conversation and to receive input from the public.

The purchase of the old Dairy Queen and mini-golf property to the north was recently completed that will allow for expansion of The Soundside.

The site of a former restaurant across U.S. 158 was bought in 2018 for additional parking.

“This is still a relatively early point in the firm’s work with us, so no figures or specific recommendations will be provided (at the session),” Nettles said.
