Another season of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks hits the air Sunday, July 18 at 7:30/6:30c on National Geographic, and Beach 104’s Jody In The Morning had a change to talk with Captain Bobby Earl of the Reel ‘E Bugging ahead of the season premiere.
Captain Bobby’s big, boisterous personality may not stand out in his native New York City, but he has been making plenty of noise in North Carolina. When he’s on the water, everyone knows, because Earl is not shy about trash-talking, bragging or fishing hard.
His former career on Wall Street was the perfect training ground for the high-stress stakes of commercial fishing for a living.
Tragically, Earl suffered a devastating boat fire late last year, leaving the original Reel E’ Bugging completely destroyed, and marking Earl’s return to tuna fishing questionable.
Luckily, he was able to rebuild, and is back with a new Reel E’ Bugging that’s bigger and badder than before.
With a new boat — and refined appreciation for the ocean and the challenges it presents — Earl is ready to take on what promises to be the most dangerous season of Wicked Tuna yet.
After a disappointing season last year, he and his crew are out to prove that last season was just a fluke, and they can still come out on top.
