Manns Harbor – Phyllis June Hardison, 69, passed away peacefully at the Manns Harbor home under the loving attention of her family June 15, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Hudson and Mary Sawyer and by her sister, Sylvia.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, Phyllis spent most of her youth in Elizabeth City, NC. She also lived in Florida for many years before joining family members in the Outer Banks in the early 1990s. Here, she met her future husband, Mike and completed her nursing assistant certification.

Phyllis accepted a position with Dare County Social Services from which she eventually retired after years of devoted service to her patients. Outside of her career Phyllis had many interests including quilting, fishing, and gardening. She was also a gifted seamstress but most of all loved spending family time and spoiling her grandchildren and her new great-grandbaby.

Phyllis Hardison is survived by her doting husband, Michael T. Hardison of the Manns Harbor residence; three daughters, Nikki Crum (Sean) of Ohio, Toni Rippons (Ben) of East Lake, NC, and Crystal Bush (Jarrett) of Manteo, NC; two sons, George Hardison also of Manteo and Josh Hardison of Manns Harbor; 10 grandchildren Shane, Ashlynn, Cayden, Alli, Aiden, Adelyn, Julie, Sarah, Katie, and Sydney; one great-grandson, Oliver; and two sisters, Linda and Bonnie as well as many extended family members, in-laws, and friends and her special friend Brittney. The family extends its special thanks to the nurses of Dare County Home Health & Hospice.

As Phyllis directed, she will be cremated and there are no plans for services. In lieu of floral expressions, the family would be grateful for donations to be forwarded to the Dare County SPCA.
