Peggy Tarkenton DeVane, age 78, of Woodhouse Dr., Grandy, NC died Monday, December 28, 2020 at her home.
Born in Currituck County, NC on September 22, 1942 to the late Chadwick Tarkenton and Marguarite Tatum Tarkenton, she was the widow of Wendell Emile DeVane. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was a cosmetologist by profession where she owned and operated her own business.
She is survived by two sons, Todd Cartwright of Grandy, NC and Gerald Cartwright of Powells Point, NC; and a sister, Judy Tarkenton Alphin of Barco, NC. She was preceded in death by a brother, Junius Chadwick “Chad” Tarkenton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, PO Box 648, Grandy, NC 27939 or to one’s favorite charity.
