Pair charged with felony cocaine-related counts after traffic stop in KDH

Two individuals were taken into custody Thursday, May 5th, in Kill Devil Hills following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 11:41 pm, Deputies working the A District conducted a traffic stop near Ocean Bay Blvd and Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills, NC. During the stop a Dare County Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, says the news release.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and several items of drug paraphernalia were located and seized. The Deputies continued the investigation and developed enough information to obtain a search warrant for 2 rooms at a Hotel in Kill Devil Hills. During the search of the rooms the Deputies located and seized crack cocaine and more drug paraphernalia.

Shawn Christopher Elliot, M/44, Elizabeth City, NC, was charged with (F) PWISD Cocaine and (F) Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance and was released on a $100,000 secured bond.

Olivia Donna-Louise Fontenot, F/32, Edenton, NC, was charged with (F) PWISD Cocaine and (F) Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance and was released on a $15,000 secured bond.
