The organizers of the annual Outer Banks Brewtag have announced that the 2021 edition will not be happening due to multiple factors.
Held each fall as a celebration of flight and beer at The Soundside event site in Nags Head, Brewtag has become a popular event with both locals and visitors.
John Harris, President of the Rogallo Foundation, made the announcement in a press release on Wednesday:
“It is with deep regret that the Rogallo Foundation announces the cancellation of the 6th Annual Outer Banks Brewtag event, scheduled for October 23, 2021. Due to the upward trend in COVID-19 cases and the local labor shortage, we will not be able to host this event safely and to the standard our guests have come to expect. We look forward to hosting Brewtag again in 2022.
We remain committed to the overall goal of creating a museum in honor of Outer Banks residents Francis and Gertrude Rogallo and their invention that ultimately led to hang gliders, paragliders, kites, stunt kites, kiteboarding kites, and revolutionized parachutes. We will continue to accept donations via our website to work toward that goal.
