Orientations scheduled for bow hunters at Nags Head Woods Preserve

Designed to manage the deer population and to ensure the herd’s health, the Nature Conservancy allows bow hunting for white-tailed deer in the Nags Head Woods Preserve each year.

The regular hunting season runs September 10, 2022 through January 2, 2023.

Interested hunters must attend an orientation session and complete an application form which includes a $50 fee (to cover the cost of hunt administration and liability insurance). All orientation sessions are held at Nags Head Woods Preserve, 701 West Ocean Acres Drive, Kill Devil Hills.

The hunter orientation sessions schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, August 23, 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 24, 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 30, 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 31, 5:30 p.m.
