The OBX Storm 11U Boys qualified to play in the Target USA Cup in Minnesota following their win at the Adidas National Cup in February. Since qualifying, the team has been busy fundraising, practicing and preparing to compete. From their Championship win at the Adidas National Cup and Spring season, they are currently standing as the number 16 ranked team in the state.

The team will be the only team representing the state of North Carolina, and will depart to compete at the week-long Tournament on Monday, July 17. Games will begin Tuesday and the team will compete daily through Thursday. Friday will be the Quarterfinals and Semifinals and the Championship game is held on Saturday. They will only advance past the Quarterfinals with a win.

In true Outer Banks fashion, so many wonderful businesses stepped up to help the team raise money through generous sponsorships, offering their business to host fundraising events and sharing their journey on social media. On behalf of Coach Matt and the 11U Boys Team, they would like to personally thank Outer Banks Boil Company, Trio, Max’s Italian Restaurant, Towne Bank, Kellogg, Everett Nautical, Untucked, Cozy Kitchens, Educational Travel Service, Inc., Sharp, Graham, Baker & Varnell Law Office and all those who have supported the team.

Coach Matt Hart comments through a proud smile, “These boys have shown grit and determination to get themselves to this point. They have put in the time and effort to prove themselves a worthy competitor on a grand stage. This is such an amazing opportunity and we are all so proud of them and their hard work. The past few months, we have been focused on our passing and technical skills which have just continued to solidify our team chemistry. We hope to continue to make the Outer Banks proud. Let’s go Storm!”

Join OBX Storm as we cheer for one of our own Outer Banks teams as they compete at the USA Cup! Updates from the Tournament will be shared on OBX Storm’s Facebook and Instagram feeds. For more information about OBX Storm, visit obxstorm.org.
