Robert “Wayne” Crouch, Sr.

Robert “Wayne” Crouch, Sr., 76, of Evington, VA died Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Piney Forest Nursing & Rehab. Center in Danville, VA.

Wayne was born in Evington, VA on November 14, 1943, son of the late Albert Rosser Crouch and Violet Gertrude Ferrell Bass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Ellison Crouch.

As a young boy, Wayne worked on a local dairy farm, there he acquired the nickname “Doc”, which was what most of his friends and family called him. He proudly served his country in US Army, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1965-1967.

After vacationing for many years on the Outer Banks of NC in early 1980s, he moved his family to Nags Head and started a very successful plumbing business. He was in much demand with the building contractors from Carova to Hatteras. After many years, he returned to his hometown of Evington, Va, working for Moore’s Plumbing until retirement.

Wayne is survived by his three children: Connie Marie Cruise, Hatteras, NC: Robert “Rob” Wayne Crouch, Jr, Evington, VA: Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Coughlan, Whiteville, NC; three grandchildren: Cathryn Bravo, Natalie Lancaster, Robert Cruise; two great-grandchildren: Izaiah & Izabella Bravo; sisters: Violet Garner, Sara Hall; brothers: Richard Crouch and David Crouch, also the mother of his children: Linda Mason Crouch, Nags Head, NC. Many nieces, nephews and extended family members, will fondly remember all the good times shared with him. He was loyal and dependable to his family and friends, something that just came naturally to him. He will be sadly missed by all.
