Martha R. Amrhein, 93, passed away of natural causes in Nags Head on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
Martha was born in Richmond, Virginia and moved to the Outer Banks full time in 1976 with her husband, John L. Amrhein also of Richmond. She is predeceased by her husband John and her son James Michael Amrhein of Richmond. She is survived by her son, John L. Amrhein, Jr., of Colington Harbor, his wife Delphine, their children and grandchildren; Phil Amrhein and his wife, Delta, and their two children of Charleston, South Carolina; and by her daughter-in-law, Mary Downes Amrhein, of Richmond and her children and grandchildren.
Martha enjoyed many years of golf with her husband at the Duck Woods Country Club. Other interests were fishing, beachcombing, and knitting.
Martha will be cremated. A Catholic funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk with Deacon Al Hallatt officiating.
Martha kept her well-known sense of humor up to the end.
