Leslie S. Johnson, III

Leslie S. Johnson III, born July 4, 1945 passed away the morning of October 14, 2020 at home. Leslie was loved by many and known as Rocky, Rock, Rocket, but most commonly Pop-Pop because of his devotion to the family and his grandchildren. Below are the words of one of his special grandchildren:

“Pop-Pop was a son, so he understood respect. Pop-Pop was a talented athlete, so he valued the importance of discipline. Pop-Pop was a war veteran, so he knew how to fight for you. Pop-Pop was an officer of the law, so he knew how to protect you. Pop-Pop was a cook, so he knew how to feed you. Pop-Pop was a business owner, so he knew how to take a chance on you. Pop-Pop was a fisherman, so he knew how to be still with you. Pop-Pop was a photographer, so he knew how to capture the moment. Pop-Pop was a loyal husband, so he knew how to love, accept, and grow with you. Pop-Pop was a father, so he knew how to be patient with you. Pop-Pop was an extremely proud grandfather, so he knew how to boast about you, how to hug you, encourage you, and remind you to ‘Keep the Faith’. Pop-Pop was a gamer, so he definitely knew how to beat you in Tiger Woods’ golf. Pop-Pop was a good friend, so he knew how to listen, laugh, or just be there for you. Pop-Pop knew kindness and always cherished you for you.”

Leslie was so many things to all of us. We want you to find peace knowing he lived a life full of love with those who treasured him the most. It has been quite a year, and even though we were not ready for this – The Lord decided to call Leslie home. He is now resting eternally at peace watching over us.
