John Michael Acierno, 78, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Born in Newark, NJ on October 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Bernadette Ferris Acierno and Rocco Acierno.
A longtime resident of Milltown, NJ, John graduated from Woodbridge High School. He spent his career protecting his community as a New Jersey State Police Officer. He also owned and operated Acierno, Inc.
John was currently serving as the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus – Annunciata Council #8759.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all.
John is survived by his wife, Carol Ross-Acierno; daughter, Brooke Acierno (Michael Reid) of Bordentown, NJ; son, John M. Acierno, Jr. (Jennifer) of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Liam Acierno Reid, Jonathan Acierno, and Nicholas Acierno; and his brother, Toby Acierno (Betty) of Stuart, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Einhorn.
A Catholic funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo with Deacon Al Hallatt officiating.
