James Donald Caldwell

James Donald (J.D.) Caldwell, 80, of Knotts Island, NC died peacefully Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He was a native of Marietta, GA, born on April 20, 1940 to James Loyd Caldwell and Mae Belle Rogers.
After graduating from Sprayberry High School, James joined the military and served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard. Following his short military service, James embarked on a career in heating and air conditioning sales. His passions included spending time with his family, singing, and listening to his favorite gospel group, The Gaither Vocal Band. He was a member of Knotts Island Baptist Church for 26 years and had the privilege of serving as a deacon.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife of 33 years, Martha (Sue) Caldwell of Knotts Island NC, his son, James Gerald Caldwell (Shari) of Holly Springs GA and step daughter, Tracy Bryan (Gary) of Knotts Island NC; three brothers and two sisters, his twin Loyd Arnold Caldwell (Josephine) of Acworth GA, J.M. Caldwell (Diane) of Marietta GA, Joe Caldwell (Barbara) of Dallas GA, Barbara G. Kadner of Kennesaw GA, and Teresa Hamilton (Joe) of Moultrie GA; five grandchildren, Miranda Martin, Caleb Martin (Brittany), Kasey Bryan (Joshua), Amy Williams, and Kelly Mann (Matthew); and four great-grand children, Madison, Devin, Macy, and Aspen, as well as many other relatives and friends.
James’ memorial service will be held at Knotts Island Baptist Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jack Sauls and Rev. William Thorn will officiate. COVID-19 precautions will be observed. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Knotts Island Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
