Northeast NC Niche Agriculture Field Day happening May 12 in Barco

Small farmers interested in growing niche crops or raising livestock are invited to attend the first annual Northeast North Carolina Niche Agriculture Field Day on May 12, 2023, from 8:00 to 3:30 at the Currituck County Extension Center in Barco, NC.

This day will be filled with outdoor demonstrations of techniques used by small farms producing livestock and horticultural crops. In addition, agricultural supply vendors and agency exhibitors will be at the Field Day to visit with and learn more about their products and programs.

Demonstration topics include small ruminant herd health, rotational grazing fence systems, honey bee hive inspections, mobile poultry processing units, fruit trees and figs, drip irrigation systems, garlic and other niche crop production, growing ginger, and mulch plastic installation.
