Mediacom customers across northeastern North Carolina were without internet, voice and video services for an extended period for a second straight day with no details from the company on what may be the cause.

Nearly 17,000 customers in mainland counties served by Mediacom, including Currituck, were without service for much of the afternoon on Monday.

Another outage began late Tuesday afternoon and continued well into the evening. At 7:30 p.m., Mediacom’s website estimated time for restoration was 1 a.m. Wednesday. But by 9 p.m. Tuesday, service seemed to have been restored.

A search of social media shows there was a similar outage being experienced by Mediacom customers in Delaware, Maryland and Iowa.

Mediacom’s support account on Twitter has been responding to customer complaints saying the cause of the outage is under investigation and technicians were working on the issue.

OBX Today has reached out to a Mediacom representative by email, but had received no response.
