New York man, juvenile, busted on drug charges on Hatteras Island

A New York man and a juvenile are facing multiple drug charges after they were arrested Saturday night on Hatteras Island.

A Dare County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the C District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 49000 block of Highway 12 in Buxton, according to a news release.

The deputy noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle prompting a search that allegedly turned up methamphetamine, hydrocodone, marijuana, THC oil and drug paraphernalia.

Michael Raymond Zielinski, 30, of Buffalo, New York, is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was released from the Dare County Detention Center after posting a $10,000 secured bond.

The juvenile who was also in the vehicle will be charged by juvenile petition for possession of hydrocodone, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
