According to an update from NCDOT, NC 12 is currently closed in the Town of Southern Shores due to a water main break.
Traffic is being detoured onto Dogwood Trail.
Dare County crews are working to assess and repair the damage, but expect traffic delays in the area through the majority of the day on Thursday.
There is no information yet on an estimated time of when the road will reopen.
