Members of the North Carolina National Guard will be at the Currituck County historic courthouse next week to conduct testing of the county’s information technology security systems.

The tests, which are scheduled to being on March 9 and last several days, will mean that numerous National Guard vehicles will be in the area around the courthouse and traveling through Currituck County.

County officials stress that the National Guard presence is in no way related to any concerns over the coronavirus.

“These technology exercises have been scheduled well in advance, and will enable Currituck County to provide a more secure operating and records retention system,” said county spokesperson Randall Edwards.
