Nancy Carol Maruskin, age 49, of Powells Point, NC died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Duke Univeristy Medical Center.
Born in Chesapeake, VA on March 14, 1971 to Shirley Ann Phelps and the late Richard B. Phelps, she was the wife of John B. Maruskin. Nancy worked as a dump truck driver in construction until retirement. She greatly enjoyed the mountains and camping and country music was her genre of choice for both listening and singing. She loved children and they loved her also. She radiated pure joy when in their presence. Nancy also loved butterflies.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters, Jessica Garrett (Ryan) and Cassie Gaskins, both of Moyock, NC; a son, Ryan Gaskins of Southern Shores, NC; and three brothers, Billy Miller (Debbie) of Newport News, VA, Ricky Phelps (Mary) of Moyock, NC, and Brian Phelps (Angela) of Coinjock, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Twiford Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. F. Joe Griffith. The family will greet visitors after the service at 664 S.
