N.C. Highway 12 between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe remains closed at this hour.
NCDOT says, the overnight high tide did cause some more overwash and blown sand at Mirlo Beach and the Pea Island Visitor Center, although not as severe as the previous high tides. Crews are working this morning to clear the roadway and rebuild protective dunes and berms.
At this point, NCDOT is aiming to open the highway sometime in the late morning or early afternoon time frame. No exact time has been given.
