More than 200 Dare County residents have now tested positive for COVID-19

Ten additional positive tests for COVID-19 were reported over the weekend by Dare County health officials, bringing the overall coronavirus case count to 357 since mid-March, including 202 residents.

Five of the new cases were reported in residents, and five in non-residents.

48 people have died from the coronavirus in the northeastern-most 13 counties of North Carolina, after a fifth death was reported over the weekend in Bertie County.

Total number of positive tests in the region has now stands at 2,056. Dare County is the fifth county in the area to have more than 200 residents who have acquired COVID-19.

In North Carolina, there had been 125,219 laboratory-confirmed cases out of 1,813,510 completed tests, 1,969 deaths and at least 1,142 people were hospitalized as of Sunday afternoon.
