Mildred Lorena Aydlett Mercer, age 96, of 142 Grandy Road, Grandy, NC departed this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Mrs. Mercer was born in Dare County on July 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Elijah Francis Aydlett and Lorena Olds Aydlett.
She is survived by her son, Clayborn Mike Mercer of Grandy, NC; her sisters, Jean Tarkington of Elizabeth City, NC, Carolyn Simpson of Grandy, NC, and Kathryn Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; and a brother, William “Billy” Aydlett and wife Joyce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayborn M. Mercer; her son, Joey M. Mercer; sisters, Frances Turner and Shirley Aydlett; and her brothers, Frank Aydlett, John Aydlett, Oswald Aydlett, Herbert Olds Aydlett, Ray Aydlett, and Chris Aydlett.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 6480 Caratoke Highway, Grandy, NC 27939 conducted by Pastor Glenn McRanie, Pastor Rob Robinson, and Pastor Chris Aydlett. Burial will follow at Olds Newbern Cemetery, Jarvisburg, NC.
