Michael John Visnauskas
February 27, 1953 – August 27, 2019

Michael John Visnauskas, 66, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Helen Marie Poulos Campbell and John James Visnauskas.

After serving 4 years in the United States Air Force, Michael obtained a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. He spent the last 25 years of his career at UMC in Las Vegas, Nevada as a clinical laboratory scientist. While there he met and married his wife. They retired to the Outer Banks in 2014.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sharon A. Anderson; two sisters, Diane Wright (Gary) and Karen Visnauskas; nieces Nicole McNutt, Amy Suggs, and Becky Wright; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Michael was always a dedicated fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and the Penguins. He was a devoted scholar of the Civil war and would travel to battlefields and museums to expand his knowledge base on the subject. During their road trips, Sharon would quiz him with questions on various trivia subjects. He had a vast knowledge of worthless information – one of his quotes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Outer Banks SPCA, PO Box 2477, Manteo, NC 27954 or online at www.obxspca.org. He always had a soft spot for dogs. Ringo, his Miniature Pinscher, misses him terribly, still looking out the window waiting for him to come home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Colington United Methodist Church with Rev. Teresa Holloway officiating.

Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
