Margie Bright Layden, age 83, of Elizabeth City, NC passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 9, 2021 at her residence.
A native of Pasquotank, she was born November 20, 1937 to the late Julian Bradshaw Bright and Fannie Stevenson Bright. Margie loved her husband, Johnnie Layden and her late husband, Jimmie C. Lamb.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who adored her family and was deeply loved in return. Margie was a Christian who loved her Church, Live Oak Baptist Church in Calahan FL and was and will always be known for praising her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to Johnnie, her husband of thirteen years, Margie is survived by her son, Lonnie Lamb (Debbie); her daughters, Teresa McPherson (Kevin) and Janet Hoggard (Glenn Bundy); stepchildren, Freddie Layden and Kay Fain; fourteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters, Doris Arnold and Betty Pierce; brother, Buddy Bright. She was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey Lamb; a daughter, Paula Ezzelle; and sisters, Barbara Brite, Julia Bright and Marion Arnold; and two brothers, Bruce Bright and Carlton Bright.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Twiford Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at the home at other times.
