A Roanoke Island man has been charged in connection with a pair of overdose deaths in late summer.
Rachel Lee Cockerham, 29, and George Herbert Bowman Jr., 32, were found dead at a home on Roanoke Island on September 13. A third person found in the house was hospitalized.
Tyrique Lazara Wise, 31, of Manteo, was charged by the Dare County Sheriff’s Office this week with two counts of death by distribution/aggravated and one count of sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substance.
Wise previously pleaded guilty to charges related to a 2018 overdose death in Wanchese. Bond was set at $750,000 for Wise, who was already in custody at the Dare County Detention Center for other charges.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has been working alongside the District Attorney’s Office on the case, according to a press release.
