Christmas in Manteo is truly one of the most wonderful times of year. This year will be even more special with a visit from the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree!
The Town of Manteo is excited to be partnering with the U.S. Forest Service and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site (Fort Raleigh) to host the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree.
The 78-foot-tall Red Spruce tree has been selected from the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. The National Forests in North Carolina and nonprofit partner Choose Outdoors, along with presenting sponsor 84 Lumber, recently announced the 2022 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree tour dates.
Beginning on November 5th, this Red Spruce giant will kick off its journey in the Town of Murphy and make 14 stops in local North Carolina communities from the mountains to the sea over the course of two weeks. Each of these communities will welcome the tree at parks, plazas, schools, memorials, Main Streets (That’s us!), and more.
Manteo is the final stop on the tree’s journey in North Carolina and will help host a celebration event to be held on Sunday, November 13th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Fort Raleigh.
Track the tree along its journey from the Pisgah National Forest to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building in real-time online at capitoltreetracker.com.
Put a bright yellow star on your calendar so you don’t miss a unique opportunity to see this amazing tree. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
