The Town of Kill Devil Hills Community Appearance Commission has worked to establish an official town tree, the Live Oak. Awareness and preservation efforts are being conducted during the month of May with a “Love Your Live Oak” campaign.
To kick off the campaign, the Town gave away 26 mature Live Oak trees to Kill Devil Hills property owners. The Town is also giving away blue ribbons that citizens can place on their Live Oaks to assist with the awareness campaign. Ribbons can be picked up at the Town Hall, at the Administration Department, during business hours.
The Town will also be sharing posts and doing giveaways on both it’s Facebook & Instagram pages during the remainder of the month.
