Kill Devil Hills Police Lieutenant graduates from FBI National Academy

Lieutenant David Pierce of the Kill Devil Hills Police Department. [Submitted]

Lieutenant David Pierce with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department recently graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 282.

The FBI National Academy is an extensive ten-week program of advanced communications, leadership, and fitness training. The coursework is for U.S. and international law enforcement managers who have been nominated by their agency Chiefs.

Upon graduating from the Academy, Lieutenant Pierce brings back increased knowledge and preparation in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science law, law enforcement communication, and forensic science.

Not only did Lieutenant Pierce graduate from the program, but he also received the prestigious Yellow Brick Award. The Yellow Brick is a difficult fitness challenge that includes a 6.1-mile run through a hilly, wooded trail. Participants must climb over walls, run through creeks, jump through simulated windows, scale rock faces with ropes, crawl under barbed wire in muddy water, maneuver across a cargo net, and more. Not all students complete this grueling test, which was built by the Marines.

Only 53,435 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began on July 29, 1935. Kill Devil Hills is proud to have such an excellent example, such as Lieutenant Pierce, to have graduated from this elite Academy. His new knowledge and experience will serve our Town, the state, and our country well.
